The Science Innovation and Discovery (SID) Award is presented each year to middle school students in Springfield for achievements in the sciences. The SID Award is presented by the Illinois Environmental Regulatory Group, a not-for-profit business association with a focus on environmental issues, in honor of its founder and long-time Executive Director, Sid Marder. In the spirit of Mr. Marder, the SID Award encourages students to cultivate an interest in science at an early age, and develop into the next generation of scientists, engineers, and discoverers.
